Studies on Structural Canvas

Cotton duck or any other heavy-duty canvas is transformed into a rigid but malleable surface material.
The surface has the capability of holding itself in space, allowing endless spatial configurations without arbitrary folds.
The canvas is structuralized using polymer medium and aluminum micromesh.
This treatment makes the canvas a highly transformable and freestanding surface. It can be cut, sewed, bent, micro-stretched, embossed and if necessary, reinforced with elements such as aluminum tubing, strips, etc.
The surface is printable, paintable and foremost sculptable.
It can be constructed and deconstructed. Assembled and disassembled.
This pictorial structural surface act as a volumetric object, but remains flat and open. It folds in three-dimensional multiple configurations, but do not close itself into a solid object.
